Prep Expert is a US-based SAT and ACT test preparation company founded by Dr. Shaan Patel, MD MBA, who famously went from an average SAT score to a perfect 2400. Featured on ABC's Shark Tank, Prep Expert has grown to serve over 50,000 students with a curriculum built around 100 proprietary Perfect-Score Strategies℠. The company holds a BBB A rating and is accredited, reflecting its commitment to customer satisfaction and ethical business practices.

The flagship offering is the 6-Week SAT or ACT Prep Course, priced starting at $999 (approximately $16/hour). Students meet twice weekly for 3-hour live instructor-led sessions and complete one 4-hour self-proctored practice exam per week. This structure is designed to build test-day stamina, reinforce strategies, and simulate real exam conditions. Classes are available online and at select in-person locations across the US, with online sessions recorded for students who miss a class.

Prep Expert's instructor standards are among the strictest in the industry. All instructors must score in the 99th percentile of the exam they teach. Many hold advanced degrees from institutions like Harvard, Yale, and MIT, or hold MDs, PhDs, JDs, and MBAs. Student reviews consistently highlight instructors such as Dr. Ilia Kolmagorov and Ethan Moy for their clarity, energy, and dedication. The platform has accumulated 6,098 verified reviews with a 4.72-star average.

Beyond SAT and ACT prep, Prep Expert also offers College Admissions Consulting, 1-on-1 Private Tutoring, an Unlimited Prep membership, and an All Access Pass. Gift cards are also available. Promotions such as seasonal discount codes (e.g., 30% off with MDAY30) make courses more accessible, though prices increase dynamically as course start dates approach.

  • Score Guarantee: 200-point SAT improvement or 4-point ACT improvement, or 100% money back
  • Courses from: $999 for 6-week flagship programs
  • Instructors: 99th percentile scorers with advanced degrees
  • Formats: Live online and select in-person locations
  • Additional Services: College admissions consulting, private tutoring, unlimited prep memberships
