Accessibility

Built for everyone.
No exceptions.

We believe every shopper — regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology — deserves equal access to honest, independent product research. This page documents our commitment, current conformance level, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

Section 1
Our commitment

Trusted Buyer Report is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility is not a compliance checkbox for us — it reflects our core belief that every shopper deserves equal access to honest, independent research.

We are working to make trustedbuyerreport.com conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice input, or magnification software.

This statement was last reviewed by our editorial team on May 1, 2026. We update it whenever we make significant changes to the site.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, please tell us. We treat every accessibility report as high-priority and aim to resolve or provide a workaround within 5 business days.
Section 2
Standards we follow

Our accessibility work is guided by the following international standards:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA — published by the W3C, this is the internationally recognised benchmark for web accessibility. Our ongoing target is full Level AA conformance.
  • Section 508 — US federal standard for accessible electronic information technology.
  • ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) — DOJ guidance extends ADA obligations to websites serving the US public.
  • EN 301 549 — European standard for ICT accessibility, relevant for our EU readers.

The four WCAG principles we design to

1.
Perceivable
All information is presentable in ways users can perceive — including text alternatives for non-text content and captions for media.
2.
Operable
All UI components and navigation are operable via keyboard, voice input, and switch controls — not just mouse or touch.
3.
Understandable
Content is readable and predictable. Error messages describe exactly what needs fixing, not just that something went wrong.
4.
Robust
Content is built with semantic HTML so it can be reliably interpreted by current and future assistive technologies.
Section 3
Accessibility features on this site

We have built the following accessibility features directly into trustedbuyerreport.com:

Semantic heading structure
Every page uses a logical H1→H2→H3 hierarchy so screen reader users can navigate by heading.
Descriptive alt text
All meaningful images include descriptive alt attributes. Decorative images are marked alt="" so screen readers skip them.
Sufficient colour contrast
Body text meets a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio. We never rely on colour alone to convey meaning.
Visible focus indicators
All interactive elements show a clear focus ring when navigating by keyboard. We never remove CSS outline without an equivalent.
Skip navigation link
A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page — visible on keyboard focus.
Resizable text
All text can be resized up to 200% using browser zoom without loss of content or functionality.
Responsive design
The site reflows correctly at all viewport widths including single-column at 320px. No horizontal scrolling required.
Accessible error messages
Form validation errors are identified in text, associated with the relevant input via ARIA, and describe how to fix the problem.
Language declaration
The page language is declared in the HTML lang attribute (lang="en") so screen readers use correct pronunciation rules.
No auto-playing media
We do not use auto-playing video or audio. Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
Our site respects the prefers-reduced-motion OS setting. If you have reduced motion enabled, decorative animations are automatically disabled.
Section 4
Keyboard navigation

The entire site can be navigated using only a keyboard. Here are the key shortcuts:

Standard browser shortcuts

Tab
Move to next focusable element
Shift+Tab
Move to previous focusable element
Enter
Activate links and buttons
Space
Activate buttons, expand dropdowns
Esc
Close dropdowns, modals, overlays
Navigate within menus and select lists

Site-specific patterns

  • The search bar in the header is reachable via Tab. Results can be navigated with Arrow keys and selected with Enter. Esc closes the dropdown.
  • Navigation dropdowns open on Enter or Space and close on Esc. All items within are Tab-navigable.
  • FAQ accordions use the native details element — fully keyboard accessible by default.
  • Score and rating components include ARIA labels with numeric values so keyboard-only and screen reader users receive the same information as visual users.
Section 5
Assistive technology support

We test our site with the following assistive technologies. "Full support" means all content and functionality is accessible. "Partial" means core content is accessible with minor limitations noted in Known Issues.

Section 7
Third-party content & limitations

Some content and functionality is provided by third-party services. We do not control the accessibility of these external components, but we select partners who take accessibility seriously.

  • Google Fonts (DM Sans): Font loading does not affect screen reader or keyboard accessibility. Users can override fonts via browser settings.
  • Font Awesome icons: Decorative icons are marked aria-hidden="true". Icons that carry meaning include descriptive ARIA labels.
  • Chart.js visualisations: Charts on review pages include text-based data tables as alternatives. We are adding aria-label descriptions to all chart canvases.
  • External affiliate links: When you follow a link to a merchant's website, that site's accessibility is outside our control. We recommend checking the merchant's own accessibility statement.
If a third-party component creates a barrier, please contact us. We can often provide the same information through an alternative accessible format.
